1. Free Food Distribution: Friday, Jan. 12
Independence First will hold its monthly drive-thru food distribution for seniors over 60 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 12 at 540 S. First St. Participants must complete enrollment forms and present a valid ID upon arrival. More information here.
2. Mobile Legal Clinic: Friday, Jan. 12
The Milwaukee Justice Center will be providing legal advice from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12 at the Milwaukee Public Library Mitchell Street Branch, 906 W. Historic Mitchell St. Those with open or pending cases will be unable to obtain legal advice. More information here.
3. Clothing Giveaway: Saturday, Jan. 13
Strong Native Minds The Next Chapter will be giving away free clothing to adults and children from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 13 at Lutheran Church of the Great Spirit, 3127 S. Howell Ave. If you are interested in volunteering for this event, call 414-301-5377. More information here.
4. School Daze HBCU and D9 Edition: Saturday, Jan. 13
Alumni of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, or HBCUs, and members of Divine Nine organizations are invited to network and celebrate Founders Day for their respective organizations from 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13 to 12 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14. The networking event will be held at 3945 N. 35th St. A surprise will be awaiting HBCU alums and Divine Nine members who come dressed in their school apparel or D9 letters. More information here.
5. Stay Out the Game 101: Saturday, Jan. 13
During Human Trafficking Awareness Month, Stay Out the Game 101 will hold a community event for youth ages 11 to 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 1137 W. Garfield Ave. Free food and gear will be given out as youth learn about the effects of human trafficking and how to prevent it. More information here.
