It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. Immunization Clinic: Friday, Oct. 4

Milwaukee Public Schools is partnering with the Milwaukee Health Department to host several free immunization clinics during the month of October. MPS students can get caught up on childhood vaccines, including measles, polio and meningitis. The next clinic will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4 at Greenfield Bilingual School, 1711 S. 35th St. For questions, contact your health care provider or the Milwaukee Health Department at 414-286-6800. 2. Hip Hop Chess Club: Friday, Oct. 4 

Your Move MKE Inc. teaches youths how to play chess while learning different musical techniques as part of its Hip Hop Chess Club. The group will hold its next hip-hop chess session from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4 at 1107 W. Historic Mitchell St. Registration is required.  More information here.

3. A Walk in the Park: Friday, Oct. 4

Join the Milwaukee Parks Foundation for a walk in McGovern Park from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4. Walkers will meet in the parking lot of the McGovern Park Senior Center, 4500 W. Custer Ave. Enjoy views of a lagoon, apple orchard and garden along the trails. More information here. 

4. Harvest of Wellness Health Fair: Saturday, Oct. 5

Running Rebels Community Organization invites you to a health and wellness fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 225 W. Capitol Drive. There will be free health screenings, cooking demos, resources and more. Click here to RSVP. More information here. 

5. Walker’s Point Fall Cleanup: Sunday, Oct. 6

Walker’s Point Association and Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful are partnering to lead a neighborhood cleanup in Walker’s Point from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6 at Zocalo Food Truck Park, 636 S. Sixth St. Cleaning supplies will be provided. More information here.
