Menomonee Valley Passage, a pedestrian bridge at 37th and Pierce Streets on the north edge of Layton Boulevard West, is among the 22 citywide winners of the 2011 Mayor’s Design Awards, presented by Mayor Tom Barrett.

The passage won for better connecting many residents to the Menomonee Valley, creating a trailhead for an extension to the Hank Aaron State Trail, and for its rain gardens and vegetative buffers to manage storm water.

The Mayor’s Design Awards are given annually in recognition of projects and organizations that contribute excellent designs to Milwaukee’s urban landscape.
