Runners take off at the start of the race.

Hundreds of walkers and runners set out from Miller Park on a recent Saturday morning to support the Hank Aaron State Trail. The 5K Run/Walk took participants through the Menomonee Valley along Canal Street, along the river and back to Miller Park. Individual prizes were awarded to the top male and female runners, and the first three finishers in each age division. In honor of Hank Aaron’s uniform number, 44, every 44th finisher also won a prize. Team prizes were awarded to the fastest three teams, the team with the most participants and the one with the most team spirit. The event was sponsored by Friends of Hank Aaron State Trail.

Participant Paul Gionfriddo earned the distinction of running marathons in all 50 states.
