Journey House is looking for toy and gift card donations to help make the holidays happier for neighborhood children.
Collected donations for children will be distributed at the Winter Wonderland celebration on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 8-11 a.m. Activities at the event include a breakfast, holiday carol sing-a-long and a visit from Santa Claus.
The organization is attempting to reach a goal of at least 450 toys for children from birth to 12 years of age. Toys must be new, wrapped and labeled for the appropriate age range.
For neighborhood teens, Journey House’s goal is to collect 100 gift cards of any amount. Some suggestions for gift cards include T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Wal-Mart, Target, Kohls, Pick ‘n’ Save, Mayfair, Southridge, or Bayshore Town Center.
Additionally, Journey House is collecting gifts for families. A written profile and picture of each family is available upon request.
All donations can be dropped off at Journey House (2110 W. Scott St.) by Friday, Dec 7. Journey House hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. All arrangements for donations can be made with Cherise Myers at cmyers@journeyhouse.org.
