Art show delves into twelves

December 13, 2012 by Adam Carr Leave a Comment

With the next triple-repeating date 32,161 days away (01/01/2101), a dozen Milwaukee artists have seized the opportunity, crafting a show around an impressive number of twelves. From 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. on 12/12/12, 12 art pieces were presented in 12 different spaces at RedLine Milwaukee, 1422 N. 4th St.

The show included a piece entitled “The Last Haircut,” a 12-hour interpersonal crisis by Pegi Christiansen and Renee Bebeau, which involved hair sculptures, an intervening counselor and 12 different cranberry recipes. Artist Wes Tank compressed 12 years into 12 hours, presenting poetry, video, sound and performance across a variety of screens, projections and speakers. Additionally, artist Sarah Gail Luther documented the event, creating drawings and descriptions of the performances to be printed as a small booklet.

Participating performance and installation artists also included, Sara Caron, Ashley Janke, Michael Kautzer, John Kowalczyk, Kim Miller, Jennifer Morales, and Nomadic Art Center (Brad Fiore, James Pederson, and Jessi Schleis).
