A Milwaukee neighborhood will, for one day, become the site for several of the Social Development Commission’s (SDC) busiest programs.  The services will be offered to the public at Integrated Mobile Monday being held Monday, March 25th, between 9:00am and 4:30 pm at Greater New Birth Church at 8237 W. Silver Spring Drive in Milwaukee.

The day’s event will feature programs like Energy Assistance and the free tax preparation administered through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.  Attendees can talk to staff about services offered through the Lead Hazard Reduction Assistance program which is administered as a part of SDC’s Weatherization program.  Attendees will also have access to Safelink, the free cell phone and minute’s program offered to income eligible residents.

Individuals wishing to make an appointment to see an Energy Assistance Case Manager should call ahead to the Energy Assistance Hotline at 414-906-2800 and reference Greater New Birth.  They can also learn at that time the documentation they need to bring to the appointment to fill out an application for the program.

Integrated Mobile Monday is an ongoing effort by SDC to take much needed programs to neighborhoods so residents can more easily access them at one location.  Last heating season, more than 40,000 households were served by Energy Assistance in Milwaukee County and the tax program prepared more than 15,000 tax returns.  The next Integrated Mobile Monday is scheduled for Greater New Birth Church on April 15.
