Enjoy a sparkling display of more than a 100 brightly lit, decorated jack-o-lanterns at Fondy Farmers Market’s PumpkinFest on Saturday, October 26th between 4 and 7 pm. PumpkinFest includes storytelling (with Marquette University Golden Eagle senior basketball forward Jamil Wilson), kids face painting, live music, pumpkin decorating contest, and free light refreshments – all free! Several farmers will also be at the Market selling produce during PumpkinFest. A limited number of prepared foods such as egg rolls will also be available for sale.  Earlier in the day – between 9am-noon – volunteers will be on hand to help shoppers select a free pumpkin that they can carve and decorate on-site and then submit into the PumpkinFest decorating contest. A free pumpkin will be given to the first 150 shoppers (kids or adults) who sign up for the decorating contest and carve or decorate their pumpkin on-site.

Fondy PumpkinFest October 26, 2013 Schedule of Events

9:00 am – noon: Free pumpkins to first 150 shoppers and decorating help at Fondy Farmers Market (Note: free pumpkins to contest or display entrants ONLY)

Noon: Deadline for submitting pumpkins into the pumpkin decorating contest or for display.

4:00 pm – 6:00 pm:  Kids face painting

4:30 pm – 5:00 pm:  Storytelling with Jamil Wilson, Marquette University Golden Eagle Basketball Senior Forward, and Sally Callan, Fondy Board of Director Vice President.

5:00 pm – 7:00 pm: Music with UWM Student Band

6:30 pm: Pumpkin Decorating Contest Winners Announced

6:45 pm -7:00 pm – Pumpkins can be taken home

Fondy Farmers Market is located at 2200 W. Fond du Lac Avenue. Free parking is provided in an adjacent lot. All activities are free and open to the public.

PumpkinFest Decorating Contest

Enter your decorated pumpkin to win cash prizes! A team of local artists and business owners will judge the pumpkins and award cash prizes to 1st and 2nd place finishers in two categories: Traditional Carved and Nontraditional (painted, glued art, etc.).  There are four age categories: children 0-5, children 6-11, children 12-17, and adults 18 and over. The contest is free to enter and open to the public. Entry forms can be obtained at the Fondy Farmers Market Information Booth or downloaded at fondymarket.org/programs-and-events/upcoming-events.

All pumpkins that are entered into the contest or just provided for display purposes must be submitted to Fondy Farmers Market staff by noon on Saturday, October 26th. Pumpkins may be picked up and taken home at conclusion of PumpkinFest.
