M.D. Dangerfield Jr. grew up in Chicago, where he saw poverty and violence everywhere. Dangerfield’s family moved to 35th and Lisbon when he was 9 but gang violence and killings, some of which he witnessed, were a still a reality, even in school. Somehow, he still found a way to learn.
