Safe & Sound is proud to announce the 2016 SAFER. STRONGER. TOGETHER. award recipients for the annual breakfast fundraiser being held Thursday, October 13, 2016, 7:30-9:00 a.m. at the Italian Conference Center.

The distinguished 2016 honorees are:

Dr. Mike Lovell – Herb Kohl Champion Award

Dr. Lovell follows in the footsteps of our first champion, Senator Herb Kohl, and has established visionary leadership, true collaboration and total commitment to strengthening Milwaukee.

Jane Bradley Pettit Foundation – Foundation Leadership Award

Modelling civic leadership for decades, the Jane Bradley Pettit Foundation leaves its legacy by supporting innovative approaches to the changing and challenging needs of Milwaukee residents and acts as a partner and collaborator to community-based organizations.

Chief Judge Maxine White – Law Enforcement Leader Award

Chief Judge White demonstrates a commitment to building positive relationships between law enforcement and the community, leading and supporting innovative strategies and partnerships to improve the lives of Milwaukeeans.

Cheri Fuqua – Resident Leader Award

Acting in partnership with Safe & Sound, residents and partners, Ms. Fuqua inspires, influences and empowers fellow neighbors to improve community safety and vitality.

Pierre Johnson – Youth Leader Award

Pierre Johnson has risen to the top, overcoming adverse circumstances, and becoming a young role model by caring for the community and inspiring youth.

Executive Director Katie Sanders “We are pleased to recognize these leaders for their exceptional work and dedication to making Milwaukee a better community.” Nearly 20 years ago, Safe & Sound was founded to help unite residents, youth, law enforcement and community resources to build safe and empowered neighborhoods. While Milwaukee continues to combat violence, Safe & Sound acts as a steadfast partner to the community believing we are safer – stronger – together.
