The 4th Annual Bronzeville Week kicked off on North Avenue between 3rd and 7th streets with the HaRUNbee 5K Walk/Run to raise awareness of infant mortality. Then, attendees watched performers on stages, danced in the street, sampled foods offered by a large variety of vendors and greeted friends and neighbors. Shoppers bought clothing, jewelry, beauty and heath products from booths lining the four block festival. Artists and cultural, community and religious groups promoted their work and kids had their faces painted, posed for photos, bounced in a fun house and blew bubbles.

The Bronzeville Cultural and Entertainment District is a City of Milwaukee redevelopment initiative inspired by Milwaukee’s original Bronzeville. It is striving to revitalize the area of Milwaukee where African-American culture has been a mainstay. Click Bronzeville Week for more about the week and see below for a schedule of remaining events.
