Two 11-year-old brothers came to the attention of Betty Glosson and her neighbor when the twins rescued residents of a nearby apartment building that had caught fire by kicking in the door. Glosson and her neighbor in Midtown each took in one of the boys, but their parents showed up not long after Glosson formally applied for a foster license.

Back with their parents, the twins eventually ended up in prison, one with a life sentence for a serious crime. Glosson feels that if she had more time to influence the boys’ lives, the outcome would have been much more positive. Glosson has since fostered many children. She said the reward for fostering comes back tenfold.
