With spring just around the corner, it’s a perfect time to spring into action to serve your community. Volunteer Milwaukee, a service of the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee, features a calendar full of events for volunteers, both one-time and ongoing. Here are a few of the opportunities in May.

Local Disaster Responder- Need is urgent!

Respond to local disasters and work on scene with families (mainly house fires). American Red Cross Southeast Wisconsin Chapter provides training and a six-month commitment. Apply to Redcross.org/Volunteer.

Peer Volunteer – Teen Crisis & Runaway Program

Seeking high school students to assist with the recreational and counseling needs of peers in crisis for Walker’s Point Youth & Family Center; flexible schedule.

Mock Interviewers Needed

Serve as a mock interviewer for freshman class at Carmen Schools of Science and Technology South Campus Thursday, May 11, morning or afternoon; must have interviewing experience/skills. Sign up here.

Be the Friendly Face that Greets Guests at NPC

Welcome guests, answer phones and assist with administrative tasks weekdays at the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee; 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with minimum three hours per week for at least three months.

The Great Milwaukee Victory Garden BLITZ

Help construct raised garden beds May 13-27 so Milwaukee residents can have access to healthy, affordable food. Register here at Victory Garden Initiative.
