As a boy, Sterling Daniels lived near 9th and Concordia streets in Borchert Field and then moved to 24th and Hopkins in the Amani neighborhood. Growing up without a father, he relied on the streets for role models and got involved in criminal activities as a young teen.
Recently released from prison after 26 years, Daniels is committed to sharing what he has learned to help central city boys and young men avoid lives of crime and incarceration. Daniels tells his story in “Raised in the Game,” a book he wrote in prison. He recently spoke to the boys of “We Got This” in the garden at 9th and Ring streets.
