Ras Maurice McCutcheon, a 17-year-old senior in high school, walked from his nearby home on a recent evening and sat on a bench in front of a pond at Mitchell Park. He said parks are his favorite part of Milwaukee because they offer a chance to escape urban environments, smartphones and whatever is bothering him at home. It allows him to decompress and organize his thoughts, he said.
