Looking for something meaningful to do this holiday season? Volunteer Milwaukee, a service of the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee features a calendar full of events for volunteers, both one-time and ongoing. Here are a few of the opportunities in December.

Make a Gingerbread House

Prepare materials and help families decorate a gingerbread house, hand out snacks and clean up Dec. 6, 9, 12, 16 and 19 at various times and Milwaukee Public Library locations.

Christmas Box & Toy Distribution

Check in guests, distribute food boxes and help parents select toys for their children for Capuchin Community Services now until Dec. 22; weekdays 9 a.m.- noon or 1-3 p.m.

Wellness Holiday Event

Share your skills in aromatherapy, massage, meditation/relaxation/visualization or balancing chakras at Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers Friday, Dec. 15; 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Holiday Luncheon

Set up and serve food to seniors Thursday, Dec. 21, 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Interfaith Washington Park Senior Center.

Musical/Singing Entertainers

Sing or play Christmas music for older adults with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease and for adults with disabilities at Catholic Charities Adult Day Center weekdays anytime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Ring Bells

Encourage giving with The Salvation Army Milwaukee County donation kettles through Dec. 24; two-hour shifts at various locations.

Shovel Snow

Shovel snow in your neighborhood for older adults who receive services from Interfaith Neighborhood Outreach Program.
