Does your New Year’s resolution include volunteering to help out your community? Volunteer Milwaukee, a service of the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee, features a calendar full of events for volunteers, both one-time and ongoing. Here are a few of the opportunities in January.


Big Brothers Big Sisters Information Session

Learn all about becoming a mentor to a youth in our community for Big Brothers Big Sisters Of Metro Milwaukee Wednesday, Jan. 17; 5:30-6:30 p.m. Learn more and register.

Sexual Assault Hotline

Answer the crisis line and provide information/intervention to victims of sexual trauma weekends or overnight for Aurora Healing and Advocacy Services. Register for intensive two-week training (February and March) by Jan. 31.

Adult Day Care Helper

Assist elderly and adults with disabilities with activities such as reading, arts and crafts, and at meal and snack time; weekday mornings or afternoons with once a week commitment at St. Ann Center For Intergenerational Care – Bucyrus Campus.

Healthy Dating Summit Assistant

Help with set up, registration, workshop support and surveys at Sojourner Family Peace Center for event that promotes healthy relationships for middle and high school students Thursday, Jan. 11 and 25; 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Additional dates throughout school year.

Delivery Day at Zion Rock Food Pantry

Food will be unloaded and stocked on the shelves for Friedens Community Ministries Tuesday, Jan. 16;; 10:15-11:45 a.m. Food pantry is located on Milwaukee’s northwest side.
