Today, the Common Council passed legislation sponsored by Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs to approve the sale of four city-owned vacant lots at 1940-48 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. and 227R W. Brown St. in the Historic King Drive Business Improvement District.

“I welcome this excellent new addition to King Drive, to be located on unused and/or under-utilized parcels,” Alderwoman Coggs said.

“And I look forward to continuing our efforts to make King Drive the best King Drive in the nation,” she said.

The property will be purchased by Dr. Mexton Deacon for $40,000. Dr. Deacon plans to develop a three-story medical office building and move his business, the Milwaukee Advanced Foot and Ankle Clinic, from Wauwatosa to the new location. The building will also house four apartment units on the third floor, a surgical center for the clinic on the first floor, and a 15 space parking lot behind the 12,864 square-foot development.

Dr. Deacon is planning to invest more than $2 million at the new development location along MLK Drive.
