The historically underutilized building at 2404 W. Clybourn St. on Milwaukee’s Near West Side is now a fresh food market. Mo’s Food Market, a project of Near West Side Partners, celebrated its grand opening Friday.

Keith Stanley, executive director of Near West Side Partners, said that the area has been a fresh food desert for decades. “Grocery stores like this are changing that narrative,” Stanley said.

Mo’s Food Market offers an array of Asian produce and specializes in fresh fish and seafood. Owners Qing and May Mo owned a smaller grocery store in West Allis before opening the larger store. They said they hope it will provide community members and college students a new option for purchasing fresh food.
