Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs and Alderman Khalif J. Rainey are asking for residents’ help in collecting donations for the It Takes a Village: Community Baby Shower & Resource Fair. This event is planned in conjunction with Awareness for World Doula Month and is a day of pampering and resources for expecting mothers and families. Bins for donation drop offs will be placed in the first floor rotunda at City Hall, 200 E. Wells St. and donations can be made starting tomorrow – Wednesday, March 13.
“I encourage all residents to take part in this donation drive and help support Milwaukee’s expecting mothers,” said Ald. Coggs. “This is a great opportunity to give back to your community.”
Alderman Rainey said the baby shower and resource fair will take place at The Sherman Phoenix (3536 W. Fond du Lac Ave.) on Saturday, March 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. “There’s no better feeling than to help provide a strong and healthy start to a new life – please donate to this great initiative,” he said.
Suggested donation items include:
Diapers, baby blankets, hygiene kits, dye/perfume free laundry detergent, dye/perfume free baby soap, wipes, Desitin, A&D ointment, saline nasal spray, nose suction device, breast pumps, breast pads, onesies, bibs, bottles, gift cards, and wipes.
