WHAT: Presentation of the 2019 Vel R. Phillips Trailblazer Award to Ms. Bria Smith. A student at Franklin High School, Ms. Smith currently serves as President of the City of Milwaukee Youth Council, and has brought forward her concerns about gun violence to and shared her call to action with a national audience.

WHAT: Presentation of a commendation to MCTS bus driver Shannon Johnson. Mr. Johnson witnessed a serious motor vehicle accident while on duty and with the help of others, pried open the vehicle door and pulled the driver to safety, thus preventing potential further injury.
