Governor Tony Evers to speak at newsmaker luncheon hosted by Milwaukee Press Club and WisPolitics.com

Gov. Tony Evers will be the featured speaker at a Newsmaker Luncheon, hosted jointly by the Milwaukee Press Club and WisPolitics.com, on Tuesday, April 30.

Evers, a native of Plymouth, Wisconsin, was elected in November. Prior to his election, Evers was the state’s Superintendent of Public Instruction. After being appointed deputy superintendent in 2001, he was elected superintendent in 2009 and reelected twice, in 2013 and 2017.

Evers received bachelor (1974), master (1976) and doctoral (1986) degrees from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He began his professional career as a teacher and media coordinator in the Tomah school district. He later served as principal of Tomah Elementary School and Tomah High School. Evers also was superintendent of the Oakfield school district, superintendent of the Verona school district and administrator of the Cooperative Education Service Agency (CESA) in Oshkosh.

Evers will take questions from a panel of journalists and from the audience at the luncheon, set for 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Turner Hall Ballroom,1040 Vel R. Phillips Ave., in Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Press Club’s Newsmaker Luncheon Series is sponsored by the Medical College of Wisconsin and SpectrumNews 1.

WisPolitics.com partners with the press club for this luncheon as part of its ongoing event series in Milwaukee, sponsored by UW-Milwaukee, Wisconsin Academy of Global Education and Training, ELEVEN25 at Pabst, Milwaukee Police Association, The Firm Consulting, Medical College of Wisconsin and Spectrum.

Press club Newsmaker Luncheons are held to shed light on issues of the day. The cost for the lunch and program is $25 for MPC members, $30 for non-members and $20 for students.

Seating is limited and we anticipate high attendance, so register early. Advanced registration and payment are required. Registration deadline is Friday, April 26.
