NNS reporter Andrea Waxman recently joined WGLB-AM 1560’s “Morning Mix” to talk about the Office of Violence Prevention’s 414 Life program that trains neighborhood violence “interrupters” in the Cure Violence model. Known as Ceasefire, in Chicago, where it was launched in 2000, the program approaches violence as a contagious disease and addresses individuals and communities as health professionals would treat victims of an epidemic. Waxman also talked about Black Restaurant Week.
