Every teen has a story inside them waiting to be shared! And for first time ever- Ex Fabula holds its inaugural Teen StorySlam! This free, all ages, and noncompetitive StorySlam will be held at Velobahn Coffee Shop on Friday April 19 located in the Silver City Neighborhood; doors open at 4pm, event goes until 7pm. Although tickets are free, space is limited and advance reservations are encouraged atwww.exfabula.org/goat

Throughout the evening, attendees will hear true, personal stories that explore the full range of human emotions and experiences. Some of the teens telling stories onstage were selected in advance; they are currently working with Ex Fabula storytelling coaches to prepare true stories on the theme of G.O.A.T or Greatest of All Time. There will be a few storytelling slots available for teens who want to sign up at the event.  Audience members can also participate by submitting UltraShorts, which are brief, true personal stories written on slips of paper and then read onstage by the emcee.

Milwaukee teens are involved in many aspects of this event – both onstage and off. Escuela Verde’s youth-led pop-up café, Sabor Verde will be plating culturally conscious vegetarian and vegan food. DJ Joaquin, a youth DJ from the afterschool program Scratch Sessions will be providing music throughout the evening. Milwaukee Youth Council President, Bria Smith, will emcee for the night. At the event, Ex Fabula will also announce opportunities for Milwaukee teens to shape future programming.

Story. Stage. You. These three elements bring Milwaukee youth and community together at G.O.A.T or Greatest of All Time – to listen, to learn, and to find common ground. Join Ex Fabula to kick off its first – but not last – Teen StorySlam!
