Enjoy an afternoon of music, health and community at the All of Us Gospel Sunday, set for 1 to 4 p.m. on Aug. 11 at St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care’s Bucyrus Campus. The free public event will take place on the grounds of the new Indaba Band Shell, 2450 W. North Ave.
This family-friendly gathering includes food, music from area church choirs and fun activities for all ages. Also featured is a visit by the All of Us Journey Bus which is traveling the country to raise awareness about the All of Us research program.
Tours of the bus include interactive, informational kiosks and videos that explain the program, which aims to gather data from a million people or more. The findings will help develop medicines and treatments tailored to individual patients, known as precision medicine.
Wisconsin joined the national All of Us research program in 2017 and launched in Milwaukee in 2018. Our state is in its second year of this 10-year research program. The aim is to be as inclusive as possible in collecting information—making sure adults from various age groups, races, genetic ancestries, environments and walks of life are represented in the research.
Highlighting the event are performances by some of the Milwaukee area’s finest church choirs. The entertainment line-up includes the Amazing Grace Chorus, made up of people living with dementia and their caregivers and sponsored by the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute; Parklawn Assembly of God Praise Dancers; Lyons of Judah Ministries; General Baptist State Convention Mass Choir and St. Matthew C.M.E. Church Choir.
Guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets; provided seating is limited.
