It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some events that can enrich your weekend. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please email info@milwaukeenns.org and put “5 things” in the subject line by noon Thursday.

1. Health insurance enrollment: Friday, Dec. 13 to Sunday, Dec. 15
The deadline to enroll in health insurance for 2020 is Sunday, Dec. 15. Enrollment experts will be at various locations on Friday, Dec. 13, Saturday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec. 15. Click here for the full list of locations and additional information. Individuals can drop in but are encouraged to schedule appointments by calling 211 or going online. 2. Milwaukee entrepreneurs meetup: Friday, Dec. 13
Rotary Club of Milwaukee’s Invest in Milwaukee Committee wants to know how it can offer resources to new and emerging businesses in Milwaukee. Local entrepreneurs are invited to a discussion at No Studios, 1037 W. McKinley Ave., from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13. The goal is to help grow investment in Milwaukee and generate new ideas. Tickets are free and can be found here.

3. Winter wonder woods: Friday, Dec. 13 and Saturday, Dec. 14

Take a hike through Hawthorn Glen, 1130 N. 60th St., beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 and Saturday, Dec. 14. Approximately 20,000 lights have been used to illuminate the woods making it a great place to hike at night. There will also be a fireplace and seasonal music. On-site registration begins at 5 p.m. and tickets cost $2 for all ages.

4. Breakfast with Santa: Saturday, Dec. 14

UMOS is hosting its annual Breakfast with Santa from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. McDonald’s Restaurants of Southeastern Wisconsin will provide over 2,500 parents and children with a hot pancake breakfast for free. The breakfast will take place at South Division High School, 1515 W. Lapham Blvd. Santa, Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer, football players and more will be there to visit with the children.

5. “That Christmas” with Joel Boyd: Saturday, Dec. 14
Joel Boyd is hosting the third annual MKE Holiday Turn-Up from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. It will be a night of jokes and music with featured special guests. All the proceeds will go toward CHURCH Inc. MLK Scholarship Fund of Milwaukee and the First Stage Kid-2-Kid Fund. The show will be hosted at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, 325 W. Walnut St. Tickets can be purchased here.

Bonus: Art therapy collective grand opening: Friday, Dec. 13

The Milwaukee Art Therapy Collective, 9224 W. Burleigh St., is hosting is grand opening from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13. All are welcome to join. The opening will feature an art show with pieces from students and art therapists.
