In an email to all associates on Friday, April 3, 2020, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ascension, Joseph R. Impicciche, JD, MHA, committed to protecting the pay of all Ascension associates throughout the COVID19 pandemic. This includes no layoffs and a variety of pay protection programs.

All Ascension associates, including employed physicians and providers, will have this protection even if they are temporarily assigned to a different job within Ascension or unable to work because they have been diagnosed or are suspected of having COVID-19. Ascension has established several different pay programs to provide this pay protection, such as Furlough Pay, Pay Continuation, PTO Advance, Worker’s Compensation, and Short-Term Disability. Ascension is also implementing daycare subsidies and reimbursements for associates who care for COVID-19 patients and may need to stay in a hotel to ensure social distancing from family members.

“We are blessed to be able to make this commitment and appreciate the tremendous work and flexibility of our associates, leaders and physicians in providing compassionate, personalized care,” said Impicciche. “I am proud to witness the way all associates have come together to address the challenges of today, just like we have throughout our history.”
