  • Packages contained a wide range of items, including food, educational materials, health resources, census info and more.
  • The drop-off effort reached homes from North 27th to North 34th streets, between North Avenue and Center Street.
  • Melody McCurtis, deputy director of priorities and organizer for Metcalfe Park Community Bridges, alerts a resident about the group's drop-off.

After a large-scale effort to survey the needs of its community, Metcalfe Park Community Bridges, a neighborhood-based grassroots organization, mobilized to deliver aid Friday to more than 2,000 residents.

Staff and volunteers created and delivered packages that included health resources, masks, gloves, voting and census info, food, hygiene products, tissue, educational curriculum and family activities.

The group plans to distribute packages every two weeks, as long as the quarantine continues.

This initiative is made possible through individual donors and donations from Wisconsin Voices, United Way, Northwestern Mutual, the McGinnity Family Foundation, Ayuda Mutua MKE, Arts @ Large, Medical College of Wisconsin, ImagineMKE, Rebel Face Mask, Jewish Community Pantry, Milwaukee Rep and Safe & Sound.
