We must offer safe and easy ways to register, vote absentee, and cast our ballot at the polls so that all of our votes are counted.
Who: Common Ground & Milwaukee Voters
What: Safe Voter Registration Drive-Thru Stations
When: Saturday, July 11th 9am – 3pm
Where: St. Catherine’s Parish parking lot – 5101 W. Center St. (parking lot entrance from 52nd street)
Common Ground leaders will register people to vote on tablets, using social distancing, masks, shields, gloves and sanitizers for hands and screens. Common Ground has set the goal to register and re-register 2500 voters across Wisconsin, focusing on Milwaukee where voter turnout dropped by 40,000 votes between the 2012 and 2016 elections. The presidential election in Wisconsin was won with just 22,000 votes.
This is the organization’s first in-person organized action since COVID-19 struck Milwaukee. The small group of volunteers will be trained with doctor-approved methods for interacting with all who come to register. Voter registration drive-up stations are being organized on the City’s South side for July 18th and 19th.
All wishing to register to vote must bring a valid proof of residence (see options below) and wear their face masks.
