On Wednesday, September 9, 2020, ManpowerGroup, in partnership with United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County, will host the fifth annual Success Starts Here! Men’s Job Seminar. This is a free cutting-edge seminar for local men looking to boost their skills, find a job, or explore new career options. The event this year will be virtual.

Presenters at the event include, Chris Rowland, Global Diversity Officer for ManpowerGroup; Kobena Marcus Collins, Diversity & Inclusion Advisor; Donald Driver, Retired Football Player/Motivational Speaker; Joel Peterson, Founder and President of Speak Life LLC; and the keynote speaker, Dr. Kweku Ramel Akyirefi Smith, PhD, Licensed Psychologist. The event will be hosted by Nafessa Burdine, Community Investment & Sustainability Leader, ManpowerGroup and Shannon Reed, Director Innovative Strategies for Boys & Men of Color, United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha.

From 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., attendees can join us for the entire event or select which session interests them the most:

  • Working as Black Male in Corporate America
  • Personal Branding
  • Resume Workshop
  • Interview Role Play
  • Keynote Speaker – focus on Mental Health with R Kweku Akyirefi Smith, Licensed Psychologist

The goal is to provide each attendee to leave with tools to find and land employment.

This event supports United Way’s Diversity Leadership Society, which has set a goal to reduce unemployment among African-Americans in the region.

In addition to the event, an online resource employment library will be available at United Way’s website.
