Name: PrincessSafiya Byers
What I do at NNS: Most of the time I am talking to people and working to turn those conversations into useful articles for our readers. The rest of the time I am working with NNS editors and following various issues, organizations, committees in hopes of keeping readers up to date on what is happening in our community.
How long I’ve worked here: I have worked at NNS as a staff reporter since June 2020, but I worked as an intern September 2019.
Why I love NNS: The work we do at Milwaukee NNS is authentic. We tell stories with the genuine interest of informing and celebrating Milwaukee. It’s a rare experience to work for an organization that cares about the people it serves as much as NNS does.
What are you most proud of? I am so proud of how we’ve covered the eviction crisis in Milwaukee. We’ve been able to focus on those affected and providing resources to them.
