Each “Phobruary,” three Silver City restaurants fill bowl after bowl with pho, a Southeast Asian soup originating from Vietnam. Despite being unable to offer a dine-in option this year, the restaurants are keeping the tradition alive by offering “pho to go.”

While the dish has staple ingredients — noodles, broth, bean sprouts, basil, cilantro, lime and more — each restaurant has its own way of preparing a bowl of the soup. So, in the above gallery, we decided to give our readers (and potential eaters) a look at what an order of pho looks like from each spot.

The three restaurants are Bamboo at 3427 W. National Ave.; Thai Bar-B-Que at 3417 W. National Ave.; and Vientiane Noodle Shop at 3422 W. National Ave.

For the first time in its eight-year history, “Phobruary” does not include $5 bowls of pho. Regular price bowls of pho range from $6.99 to $13.95. However, VIA  (formerly Layton Boulevard West Neighbors) is hosting a weekly “Pho To Go” raffle for participating diners throughout February.

This is a cute, little corner of Milwaukee, and these restaurants would make a great place for a Valentine’s Day dinner or take-out. One suggestion… I followed the links in the article, but I was not able to tell if the restaurants offered vegetarian or vegan selections.

      Good question. They do, Stephen!
