“The goal of these workshops is to ensure that Milwaukee-area residents are not only able to obtain homeownership, but also maintain it through the years by connecting them to the resources they need now, as well as those they may need down the road,” explains Johanna Jimenez, Program Manager for Take Root Milwaukee.
The virtual sessions are being offered in English and Spanish on the first two Saturdays of the month and will give residents the opportunity to learn about the home buying and home rehab process from start to finish. The types of loans and grants available to both homebuyers and existing homeowners will also be highlighted.
“MPL has forged a wonderful partnership with Take Root Milwaukee to further connect the community with these beneficial homeownership resources. Homeownership does not have to be just a dream. Our hope is that the right information and community resources will inspire you to take the next steps to realize that dream,” expressed Hermoine Bell-Henderson, Coordinator of Business, Technology, and Periodicals at Milwaukee Public Library.
Normally held as in-person events across the city, this year’s workshops will be held over Zoom to ensure the public’s health and safety:
