On Saturday, July 10th from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm, we are inviting the community to El Rey Grocery Store at 915 S. Cesar Chavez Drive to inscribe tiles that will be embedded in the United Farm Worker “huelga” eagle.
The creation of the plaza setting surrounding the Cesar E. Chavez sculpture, celebrates the work of Cesar E. Chavez and Dolores Huerta, co-founders of the National Farm Worker Association and how they improved the lives of the working class community.
The plaza will have public art, lighting, landscaping and a seating area. Like other plazas in Spanish Speaking communities, we hope to create a gathering point for residents and visitors to the heart of Milwaukee’s Latinx community.
Please join us by helping us finish the completion of La Placita.
