Volunteers from Foley & Lardner LLP’s Milwaukee office recently helped local students and families prepare for the new school year by filling 350 backpacks with school supplies and distributing them to local Boys & Girls Club locations throughout the city.
The backpacks went to students in pre-K through fifth grade and featured supplies including notebooks, folders, art supplies in addition to pencils and pens. Local clubs receiving the backpacks included LaVarnway, 2739 N. 15th St.; Davis, 1975 S. 24th St.; Daniels Mardak, 4834 N. 35th St.; and Fitzsimmonds, 3400 W. North Ave.
The backpack donation is one of several initiatives the Milwaukee office of Foley & Lardner is involved in with the Boys & Girls Club as part of a recently announced national partnership between the firm and the Boys & Girls Club of America. The partnership supports the youth development organization’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts, rooted in a commitment to promoting safe, positive and inclusive environments for all. Foley & Lardner is the first law firm to partner with Boys & Girls Clubs of America on a national scale.
In addition to the direct work with Boys & Girls Club participants, Foley & Lardner is also engaging in pro bono work for Boys & Girls Clubs of America on legal matters, including human resources and employment, real estate and corporate non-profit issues that will allow local Clubs to offer more programs to a broader range of children.
