The funds will support wellness and social activities for teachers throughout the week.
According to a recent survey by the National Education Association, 90% of its members say that feeling burned out is a serious problem and 91% of its members reported pandemic-related stress as a serious problem for educators. In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, Northwestern Mutual, through its Foundation, is recognizing the hardworking teachers of Notre Dame School of Milwaukee with a $10,000 grant amid high levels of educator burnout.
The grant will support various activities for teachers throughout the week, including catered meals, yoga sessions, spa treatments, massages and more. Additionally, there will be no school on Friday so teachers can celebrate with group salsa lessons, a reception and care packages.
In addition to its donation to Notre Dame School of Milwaukee, Northwestern Mutual is also awarding five of its partner schools with $5,000 grants and an additional 17 partner schools with $1,000 grants, totaling more than $50,000 in grants.
The $5,000 partner school recipients include: Cristo Rey, Golda Meir, Kingdom Prep, Prince of Peace and Rocketship Schools.
The 1,000 partner school recipients include: Acosta Middle, Bruce Guadalupe, Carmen Middle, Carmen Northwest, Carmen South, Carmen Southeast, Forest Home Avenue, Hmong American Peace Academy, Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy, Milwaukee Academy of Science, Milwaukee Environmental Science Academy, Milwaukee College Prep – Llloyd St., Milwaukee College Prep – 38th, Milwaukee College Prep—36th, Milwaukee College Prep -Lola Rowe, Ronald Reagan High School and Stellar Collegiate.
