1. Monthly hip-hop chess club: Friday, Aug. 19 

Your Move MKE is hosting its monthly night of hip-hop and chess from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19 at Ms. Yesenia’s Creative Studio, located at 2926 W. Forest Home Ave.

2. Food security resource party: Friday, Aug. 19 

Diverse and Resilient is hosting a food security resource party, with food resources, care packages, school supplies and fun. The event runs from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19 at Wellpoint Care Network (formerly SaintA,) located at 8901 W. Capitol Drive. 

3. Music on the Beerline: Friday, Aug. 19 

Riverworks Development Corp.’s summer concert series continues with Roxie Beane playing funk rock and Love, Peace and Soul playing R&B from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19 at the Beerline Performance Stage, located at 3350 N. Holton St. 

4. Back-to-school party: Saturday, Aug. 20 

Heal the Hood and the African American Roundtable are back with free food, over 30 vendors, a children’s corner, school supplies, yoga and more. The party runs from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20 at Clovernook Playground 6594 N. Landers St.

5. All Sauced Up LGBTQ+ barbeque: Sunday, Aug. 21 

Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers hosts this end-of-summer celebration, featuring games and activities, music, health resources and more. The party runs from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21 at Jackson Park Area 2, 3500 W. Forest Home Ave.
