It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. Drive-thru diaper distribution: Friday, March 3

Parents in need of diapers can get free diapers, wipes, infant formula and a $5 Culver’s gift card at this drive-thru diaper-distribution event organized by Milwaukee Diaper Mission. The event runs from 10 a.m. to noon or until supplies last on Friday, March 3 at the Hayat Pharmacy location at 1919 W. 2. Heal through free-form writing: Friday, March 3

Your Move MKE is more than just a chess club. It hosts a variety of events related to communal healing. One of them is its biweekly “Writing Sesh,” which is a two-hour free-form writing session designed to help you express yourself through poetry, writing, lyrics, journaling, freestyling and/or ciphering. This week’s “Writing Sesh” is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 3 at the Your Move MKE Community Center, located on the second floor of 1109 W. 3. ‘Mamá Said’ opening reception: Friday, March 3

Latino Arts new exhibition, “Mamá Said: A Reflection on Maternal Figures,” opens this weekend and will be available to view through June 2. The opening reception begins at 5 p.m. Friday, March 3 at Latino Arts, located at 1028 S. 9th St.

4. Women in STEAM: Saturday, March 4

March is Women’s History Month, and this is an opportunity to learn about female pioneers in STEAM, or science, technology, engineering, the arts, math. Connect with local women working in these fields, and children can participate in science activities. The event runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 4 at Lincoln Park Blatz Pavilion, located at 1301 W. Hampton Ave. in Glendale. Tickets are $5. Walk-ins are welcome, but you can reserve your space and get more information about the event here.

5. Meditate Milwaukee: Sunday, March 5

Meditate Milwaukee is a monthly event with a different meditation guide and musical guest for everyone 11 years old and up. This month’s event runs from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 5 at Sojourner Family Peace Center, located at 619 W. Walnut St. It is free to attend, but you can RSVP a spot and get more information here. The event will also be streamed live on Mediate Milwaukee’s Facebook page.
