1. Casa Bembe Open House Saturday, June 1
Join Bembe Drum & Dance for its ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate its new space. Tour the new facilities, receive resources on summer programs and more. The event will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday June 1 at 611 S. Layton Blvd. More information here.
2. Grand Opening: Saturday, June 1
Richmond’s Food for Your Soul Catering will hold its grand opening at noon on Saturday, June 1 inside the Sherman Phoenix Marketplace, 3536 W. Fond du Lac Ave., Unit 135. Come check out the new place and enjoy some food. More information here.
3. Promise Zone Bike Ride: Saturday, June 1
The Northwest Side Community Development Corp. has partnered with other organizations to host the seventh annual Promise Zone Bike Ride. The ride will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 1 in Garden Homes Park, 2600 N. Atkinson Ave. Bikes are limited, so you are encouraged to bring your own. DreamBikes, a nonprofit bike store, will perform free bike repairs, but you must arrive at 9 a.m. There will be free T-shirts, snacks and prizes. Click here to register. More information here.
4. Lindsay Heights Healthy Lifestyle 5K: Saturday, June 1
The second annual Lindsay Heights 5K walk will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 1 at Clarence & Cleopatra Johnson Park, 1919 W. Fond du Lac Ave. Throughout the day, there will be health and wellness activities such as yoga for you to participate in. More information here.
5. Greenfield Farmers Market: Sunday, June 2
More than 70 vendors will be selling merchandise and fresh products at the Greenfield Farmers Market. You can also learn where food comes from and how to prepare it. The farmers market will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 2 at 5001 W. Layton Ave. Live music will also be featured. More information here.
Bonus: MCTS 2024 Summer Schedule: Starts Sunday, June 2
The summer schedule for Milwaukee County Transit System, or MCTS, will begin on Sunday, June 2. The summer service will extend routes to new destinations, improve reliability and increase efficiency of service, according to MCTS. More information here.
Bonus: MATC expands AI program
Milwaukee Area Technical College has launched the IT Network Specialist (AI Cloud and Virtualization) program to better serve the needs of local employers by preparing students for entry-level information technology positions. The two-year associate degree program is designed to prepare students, including individuals with existing degrees, adult learners, career changers and displaced learners, to use and apply cutting-edge IT technologies.
