1. Hmong American Women’s Association Volunteers Needed: Friday, June 21
The Hmong American Women’s Association seeks volunteers to help the administrative team with sorting, organizing and shredding papers in the file room. This will take place from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 21 at 3030 W. Highland Blvd. Click here to register. More information here.
2. Men’s Yoga for Men’s Health Month: Friday, June 21
As part of the Healthy County Challenge, you can join County Executive David Crowley in a men’s yoga session to celebrate Men’s Health Month. The session will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, June 21 at 4420 W. Vliet St. It’s free and open to all. More information here.
3. Burnham Park Cleanup: Friday, June 21
Join VIA Community Development Corp. for a neighborhood cleanup in Burnham Park from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 21 between West Burnham and South 35th streets. Cleaning supplies will be provided. Click here to register. More information here.
4. A Community Share Fair: Saturday, June 22
Free at Last Ministry will be providing community members with resources for housing, mental health and more from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 at 912 W. Center St. More information here.
5. Tote Bag Social: Saturday, June 22
Make a T-shirt tote bag with Plastic Free MKE from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 at 600 E. Greenfield Ave., Room 1099. Bonus: Great Midwest Book Fest: Saturday, June 22
The 16th annual Great Midwest Book Fest will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 at 3334 N. Holton Ave. The three-hour event will start with a brief introduction from the authors, followed by a short Q&A session. Two attendees will win one of two book baskets. The event is open to the public with a $10 admission fee. Children can attend for free. More information here.
