It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. Fun Friday at Moody Park: Friday, June 28

The Amani Youth Council will be at Moody Park, 2201 W. Auer Ave., from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, June 28 for an afternoon of playing games and eating food with community members. A $1 donation is suggested for youths and adults and 50 cents for toddlers. More information here.

2. Music on the Sherman Perk Patio: Saturday, June 29

Live music will be played outdoors from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 29 at Sherman Perk Coffee Shop, 4924 W. Roosevelt Drive. This weekend, rock and pop songs will be played. Feel free to bring a lawn chair. More information here.

3. Square Plaza Market: Sunday, June 30 

A marketplace will be held in the Walker’s Point neighborhood from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 30 at 1031 S. Ninth St.  There will be local vendors, food, entertainment and more. Click here to register if interested in becoming a vendor.  More information here. 

4. Rock @ the Park: Sunday, June 30

From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, music artists will perform at The New State, 2616 W. State St. There will be free food and a chance to win tickets to Summerfest. More information here. 

5. Bembé Bombazo @ Zócalo:  Sunday, June 30

Bembé Drum & Dance invites you to an evening filled with singing, dancing and drumming featuring Afro-Puerto Rican traditions. This free community event will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 30 at the Zócalo Food Truck Park, 636 S. Sixth St. More information here. 

Bonus: Free Health Fair: Saturday, June 29

Adults and children are invited to join Pastors United and Ald. DiAndre Jackson for a free health fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 29 at Safe & Sound, 4422 W. Leon Terrace. There will be free health screenings to test blood pressure, heart rate, vision and more. Participants will each receive a $20 gift card, while supplies last. More information here.
