It’s Monday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. Crime and Safety Meeting: Monday, Sept. 16

The Milwaukee Police Department District 7 will hold a crime and safety meeting from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16 at 8901 W. Capitol Drive. Residents will have the opportunity to hear updates on crime statistics, traffic stops and more. More information here.

2. 2024 Financial Education Series: Wednesday, Sept. 18 

If you are interested in buying your first home, VIA Community Development Corp. will lead homeownership workshops to assist you with the process. The first workshop is from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 4319 W. National Ave. Experts will talk about the foundations of checking, savings and credit. Click here to RSVP. 3. Story Time with Play Group: Wednesday, Sept. 18 

Children, ages 3 and younger can enjoy a story and open play time from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at the Milwaukee Public Library Mitchell Street Branch, 906 W. Historic Mitchell St. They can listen to songs, have fingerplay and more. More information here. 

4. Bike Ride Through Lindsay Heights: Thursday, Sept. 19

Join Red Bike & Green-Milwaukee for a weekly bike ride through Lindsay Heights. Meetup time is 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19 at The Taste of Lindsay Heights, 1617 W. North Ave. The ride is open to all ages and refreshments will be available for purchase. More information here. 

5. Health Equity Lunch and Learn Workshop: Thursday, Sept. 19

The Center for Leadership of Afrikan Women’s Wellness will host a lunch and learn workshop about health equity for aging women. It will begin at noon on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 4420 W. Vliet St. and will explore topics such as fairness in health care and ways to build a healthier community. Registration is required. More information here. 

Bonus: Museum Voter Registration: Through Saturday, Oct. 5

As the U.S. presidential election approaches, local Milwaukee museums are assisting community members with voter registration. From 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Monday, Sept. 30 through Saturday, Oct. 5, you can come to the Milwaukee County Historical Society, 910 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, for voter registration assistance. Admission is free. More information here.
