Itโ€™s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. Free Adaptive Equipment: Friday, Oct. 18

Independence First will be giving away free, adaptive equipment from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18 at 540 S. First St. Equipment will include walkers, tub benches, daily living aids and more. All items are gently used. More information here.

2. Park Rangers at Washington Park: Saturday, Oct. 19 

Children and adults can help clean Washington Park from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 4023 W. Galena St. You will pick up trash and make note of any maintenance needs. All volunteers are encouraged to dress for the weather. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.  More information here.

3. The Environmental Scare: Saturday, Oct. 19โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹

Kinnickinnic River Neighbors in Action invites you to come dressed in a Halloween costume to receive a free pumpkin, a cup of hot chocolate and more from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Pulaski Park Pavilion, 2677 S. 16th St. More information here. 

4. VIAโ€™s Spooktacular Day: Saturday, Oct. 19ย 

VIA Community Development Corp. and Masterson Foods & Ethnic Diverse Business Coalition are partnering to host a Halloween celebration from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Arlington Heights Park, 3429 W. 5. Soldiers to Civilians: Sunday, Oct. 20 

Veterans are welcome to participate in low-impact chair yoga, breathing work and other activities meant for their mental and physical health. This will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20 at Sherman Phoenix Marketplace, 3536 W. Fond du Lac Ave. Healthy snacks and counseling resources will also be available. Bonus: Milwaukee Fatherhood Summit: Saturday, Nov. 16 

The City of Milwaukeeโ€™s 2024 Fatherhood Summit will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Milwaukee Academy of Science, 2000 W. Kilbourn Ave. This event will have workshops, resources, services and more. Click here to register.ย  More information here.ย
