In this season of gratitude and giving, NNS asked five more Milwaukee-area residents to tell us what they’re grateful for this year. Here’s what they had to say.

‘Health and family’

What are you thankful for this season and why?
“I’m thankful for my health and family. I have overcome some health challenges to be a better version of myself physically, mentally and emotionally. I am thankful for the support they provided me along the way.”

‘The strength to do things out of my comfort zone’

“I’m thankful for having immediate family who are healthy and local to me, as well as good health, a roof over my head and the strength to do things out of my comfort zone to heal and self improve.”

‘Being in a mariachi band’

What are you thankful for this season and why?
“I am thankful for being in a mariachi band that is able to share my culture with people and bring happiness through music to other people. I’m grateful because it’s an amazing outlet for me as a creative person and they are like a second family to me. I am also thankful for my education. I wouldn’t have experienced all the things I have without learning about the world around me and meeting people along the way.”

‘I’m thankful for my job and my coworkers’

What are you thankful for this season and why?
“I’m thankful for my job and my coworkers and the money that comes with it. On a serious note, I’m grateful to be alive and be able to celebrate with my family.”
‘I’ll still be celebrating with family’

Age: 47
Occupation: Family educator at Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers
Neighborhood: Near Wauwatosa
What are you thankful for this season and why?
“I’m not going to be visiting Puerto Rico this holiday season. It’s a lot colder here, but I’ll still be celebrating with family. Very thankful for them, for my health and for their health as well. Above all, I’m thankful to God for all the blessings he gives me and my family.”
