It’s Monday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. Open Discussion for Men and Youth: Monday, Dec. 16

Men and youth are encouraged to engage in an open discussion about issues that affect their everyday lives. The next session is from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16 at 2200 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. There will be food, raffles and resources. More information here.

2. Singing Songs of the Season: Wednesday, Dec. 18

The Milwaukee Garden District will host its fifth annual “Sing-A-Long” event that will include caroling, hot chocolate, cookies and connecting with residents from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18.  It will take place at  3989 S. Sixth St. Afterward, children can pick out a toy and wrap it at the Town of Lake Water Tower at 4001 S. Sixth St. More information here. 

3. The Carmen Northwest Express: Wednesday, Dec. 18

Family and friends are invited to participate in holiday festivities from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Carmen Middle and High School of Science and Technology: Northwest Campus, 5496 N. 72nd St. There will be games, raffles, photos and more. This event is open to students and families of the Carmen Northwest community or anyone interested in learning more about the campus. More information here. 

4. Job and Career Fair: Wednesday, Dec. 18

Centers for Independence will host a job fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 3903 N. Richards St. Attendees will have the chance to meet the staff and decide on their next career. More information here. 

5. Chop it Like It’s Hot: Gingerbread Houses: Wednesday, Dec. 18

Children can build gingerbread houses from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at the Milwaukee Public Library Mitchell Street Branch, 906 W. Historic Mitchell St. More information here.
