It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. A Walk in the Park: Friday, Jan. 3

Join the Milwaukee Parks Foundation for a walk in Harley Park on Friday, Jan. 3 from noon to 1 p.m. at 4000 W. Highland Blvd. This is the chance for you to enjoy scenery and connect with residents. More information here.

2. Story Time: Friday, Jan. 3

Children and their caregivers are invited for a morning filled with reading books, singing songs and more from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 3 at the Milwaukee Public Library Capitol Branch, 3969 N. 74th St. More information here.

3. Enduro Swim 2025: Saturday, Jan. 4

Milwaukee Recreation is aiming to promote fun and swimming together. Children and adults are welcome to attend a water polo and enduro swim festival from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 4 at South Division High School Pool, 1515 W. Lapham Blvd. Swimmers will get to play water polo and meet other swimmers. All ages are welcome. More information here.

4. Mulchfest 2025: Saturday, Jan. 4

The Enderis Park Neighborhood Association invites individuals to bring in holiday trees from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4 at Enderis Park, 2938 N. 72nd St. so the trees can be mulched. If you can’t bring your tree – the city will still pick it up curbside until Jan. 31.

Residents can request Christmas tree collection using the MKE Mobile Action app or by calling 414-286-CITY. Christmas trees should be placed at the standard collection point in the alley or at the curb and must be free of all decorations and must not be bagged. More information here.

5. Open Decks: Saturday, Jan. 4

If you are interested in digital DJing, Language Models is hosting a free session to teach individuals of all levels the foundations of digital DJing. It will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4 at the Cactus Club, 2496 S. Wentworth Ave. Attendees are welcome to bring their own USB with their music loaded on it. More information here.
