1. Basketball Open Gym: Friday, Jan. 31
The Urban Youth Coalition will host a basketball open gym from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31 at 2906 W. Scott St. Children ages 13 and up are welcome. More information here.
2. Winterfest Community and Grand Reopening: Saturday, Feb. 1
The Urban Ecology Center in Washington Park will be having a grand reopening and Winterfest celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 1859 N. 40th St. Attendees can participate in sledding, hiking, carriage rides and more. More information here.
3. Milwaukee Kindergarten Enrollment Fair: Saturday, Feb. 1
Milwaukee Public Schools will be hosting a kindergarten enrollment fair for parents from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 1515 W. Lapham Blvd. Parents will be able to explore different schools, meet teachers and more. More information here.
4. Free CPR, Stop the Bleed and Naloxone Training: Saturday, Feb. 1
Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin are partnering with Gee’s MKE Wellness Clinic and the Milwaukee Fire Department to offer community members free CPR and naloxone training. The sessions are from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 2200 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. More information here.
5. Sunday Open Mic at Zócalo: Sunday, Feb. 2
All ages are welcome to showcase your talent during an open mic hosted by Tlalok Rodriguez from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 636 S. Sixth St. More information here.
Bonus: Music lab with Genesis Renji: Friday, Jan. 31
Grace Weber’s Music Lab starts its eighth season this month. Artist and recording engineer Genesis Renji will teach teens about music and sync placements. Teens also will have the opportunity to perform in the open mic session. This will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31 at 158 S. Barclay St. Registration is required. More information here.
