1. Milwaukee Peace Week Career and Resource Fair: Friday, May 9
Join the City of Milwaukee Department of Employee Relations in a career and resource fair from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 9 at the Milwaukee Public Library Mitchell Street Branch, 906 W. Historic Mitchell St. City and non-city jobs will be available to explore. More information here.
2. Black Birth: Maternal & Infant Health Symposium: Friday, May 9
Community partners are hosting the fourth annual “Black Birth: Maternal & Infant Health Symposium” that focuses on health equity and disparities among Black mothers and babies. The program will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 9 at the Baird Center, 400 W. Wisconsin Ave. Admission is free. More information here.
3. Mother’s Day at the Park: Saturday, May 10
The New State will be hosting a Mother’s Day event from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 10 at 2616 W. State St. Moms will receive free carnations while enjoying live music, exercise, food and a block cleanup. More information here.
4. MKE Chess Park Design Pop-up: Saturday, May 10
The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works is partnering with other local organizations to host a day of playing chess in the park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 10 at Kilbourn Reservoir Park, 2230 N. Bremen St. There will be free refreshments and a chance for you to share ideas about a new public space. More information here.
5. Annual Bloom and Groom and Watermarks Community Event: Saturday, May 10
Watermarks MKE and the KK River Neighbors in Action are holding the annual “Bloom and Groom” discount plant sale. There will be vegetables, herbs and flowers starting at $3.
