Black Arts Fest MKE (BAFMKE) has officially announced the date for its 2025 festival, set to take place on Saturday, August 2 from noon to 10 p.m. at the Summerfest grounds. The annual festival celebrates the deep roots of African heritage and Black cultural arts. BAFMKE is a proud anchor in Milwaukee’s black community as it continues the long-standing history of celebrating African American culture in Milwaukee.

BAFMKE celebrates the richness and influence of Black culture, showcasing everything from African diaspora to visual arts, dance, spoken word, cuisine, fashion, live music and more. The festival offers a vibrant mix of education and entertainment, with programming designed for the whole family to enjoy.

“African heritage is deeply woven into the fabric of this city,” said Derek Tyus, board chair of Black Arts Fest MKE. “We welcome the entire Milwaukee community to come together and celebrate the vibrant talent and cultural traditions that make Black Arts Fest MKE such a unique and meaningful experience. This is the only festival of its kind in the city, and we can’t wait to celebrate and share this unique experience with everyone.”

This year’s festival will feature a stacked music lineup, headlined by national R&B artist Carl Thomas, best known for hits like “Emotional” and “Summer Rain”. Additional acts will be announced in the coming weeks.

There will also be paint sessions and coloring kickbacks hosted by Vibez Creative Arts Space. The Dynamic Divine 9 party is also back by popular demand, celebrating all nine historically black fraternities and sororities. Don’t want to miss the roll call, or the steppers showcase. Guests should also check out the Family Village and Kids Area for fun activities for the whole family.
