On Milwaukee’s south side, one coach is trying to change what summer looks like for kids.
Coach B, a local sports coach who has spent over a decade working with youth, is launching Next Play M Summer Camp — a completely free summer program designed to give kids a safe place to grow, stay active, and just be kids.
After coaching in middle schools and working with over 100 youth in the community, Coach B saw something that stuck with him:
Too many kids had nothing to do during the summer.
“No structure. No outlet. Just time… and not always the right environment,” he said.
Instead of waiting for change, he decided to create it.
Next Play M Summer Camp will offer:
- Sports and skill-building activities
- Water games and fun summer experiences
- A positive, safe environment for kids ages 5–14
But this isn’t just about sports.
It’s about giving kids confidence, guidance, and something to look forward to every day.
“This camp is about more than games. It’s about showing kids they matter, that they have a place, and that someone believes in them.”
The camp is currently being built from the ground up — without major funding, without a big team — just one coach with a vision and a commitment to his community.
Coach B is now calling on Milwaukee to help make this possible.
Whether through donations, partnerships, or simply spreading the word, every bit of support helps bring this opportunity to more kids across the city.
Because sometimes, all it takes is one place…
one coach…
and one opportunity…
to change a child’s entire summer — and maybe their future.
